sunlite Posted March 15, 2008 Share Posted March 15, 2008 hi, has anyone a notebook with the nvidia geforce 8600m gt? if so how did you get mac osx running on your system with a matching graphic-driver? i.e. what graphic-driver did you use? nvinject and nvinstaller do not support 8600gt, yet. cyclonefr Posted March 15, 2008 Share Posted March 15, 2008 Yes it works, just not on a Sony Vaio. EDIT : you seem to be running a dell. I can assure you those NVidia installer on this forum WORK. If you wanna do it manually, just install 10.5.2 + Graphics Update & put NVinject.kext by yourself. sunlite Posted March 15, 2008 Author Share Posted March 15, 2008 hi cyclonefr, the last 3 days i tried to get kalyways macosx work. but it didn't work. maybe you can tell me, what i did wrong. the story: i installed kalyway 10.5.1. with all available drivers first. after installation the system crashed while trying to load the mac os. it crashed on the point where this kind of clock below this apple sign rotates some pins. these pins then stucked and nothing went on anymore. i reinstalled the system but without installing the graphic-drivers. now it works and mac osx started with 1024x768 and not really sharp graphic. i went on the following sites: http://nvinject.free.fr/index.html and http://scottdangel.com/blog/?p=21. i tried to install the graphic-driver from both pages but after installation mac osx crashed on the same point it crashed on the very first beginning, too. i read thousands of tutorials and most of them told me that nvinject does not support the 8x00-series of nvidia geforce graphic-cards except the 8800 gts. then i found the next very interesting page: http://osx86.kbot.de/leopard-fur-dell-insp...1405e1505e1705/ i also tried to do it this way but i didn't work at all. can you give me an exact description what i need to do to run this mac osx with this f**** graphic-card (nvidia geforce 8600m gt). i would love to run mac osx on this notebook because it's a damn fast one and the mac osx completely started within 12 seconds. that's awsome. if the graphic and the sound and the wireless-stuff worked, too, it would be an absolutely phantastic system. really but the most important thing is the graphic-driver. if you can tell me what to do exactly. maybe you know some links of some more tutorials how to install the specific driver. thx man Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/93811-nvidia-geforce-8600-m-gt-driver/#findComment-668672 Share on other sites More sharing options...

I can assure you NOW that ANY 8xxx card work under Leopard.
