Hello I just installed Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2] on vmware as a test to see if it would work before I wasted a DVD to install this normally. The install process went perfectly fine but when I try to boot it just hangs on the gray boot screen with the black apple. I have tried booting with -x -v -f and using different combos of that and yet no success to this point.

MSI MS-7222 ViA Motherboard

Intel Celeron D 3.33GHz MMX/SEE/SEE2/SEE3/EM64T (Socket 775 LGA)

2048 MB DDR2 Ram

Nvidia GeForce 7600GS PNY 512mb AGP 8x

2x 160GB IDE(PATA) Hard Drives

The Hard drives were not used as it was going to a VMIMAGE file.

Using -v the last couple lines that comes up before it starts to sit is:

Security auditing present

disable

from path: "uuid"

Waiting for boot volume with uuid b51c21ff-3b1a-3ee0-be5d-4e9541452d0c

Waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID="2">bot-uuid-media</string></dict>

I hope someone can help as I have been trying to get this to work for about a month now.

Hey there,

so Im pretty new at all this stuff and this is just a suggestion, but I had the same issue with the same Jas release and was told to INSTALL EVERYTHING during the installation (this includes BOTH the AMD and intel packages). For some strange reason, it works flawlessly.

...well the PS2 keyboard wasnt detected, but an easy fix (ONLY for the Jas release) to that is to go to System\Library\Extensions\ApplePS2Controller.kext\Contents\ and rename the folder "plugins" to PlugIns with a capital "I"

(i didnt use terminal, just the usb mouse which was detected, but you could do it in terminal(in the install dvd) too if your mouse doesnt work)

Hopefully all this randomness helps you out.

Thanks I will give that a try! I will install everything on the disk as you say too and I am going to try to do it on a drive away from windows on VMware to see if that helps.

If there is anything else I should know please post!

Thanks

EDIT: So far thanks to thequietus it is working on VMware (Haven't tested fully yet but its booting) if all goes well I will fully install it!
