s1985
Hoping someone can help me please. Been trying to install Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2] iso. Have installed OSX, but when it boots up I get the grey screen, with apple logo and a loading circle in the middle but freezes in between. Was following a previous guide by a member of this forum, but do not have the technical know how to proceed: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=45210 "had to face the "frozen-grey-disk" problem. It seemed to be the loginapp crash problem (see http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=38932 for details), but... I booted with the mach_kernel from the DVD and it solved! From there I installed the intel 10.4.8 pkg included on the DVD and the "frozen-grey-disk" problem was solved" How do I boot into the mach_kernel. When I reboot and put the DVD installer it asks me whether to start Darwin or boot from DVD. If I choose the DVD, then gives me option to press F8 and the install process starts again (one initially done for installing OSX)? Also how do I install the 10.4.8pkg, I can see it when the DVD boots into installation screen again under the file structure before installing. Do I use Terminal and enter some command line code? As you can tell I am a complete noob!, any help appreciated. Having seen the installer screen with the mac interface was so cool cant wait to install the full thing!!!
