is it currently possible to install an ati (assus) x850xt i have the 10.4.4 extentions. if it is possible, how, thx my dev id is 0x5d521004

It appears that the x8xx series PCI-E cards aren't working. (Maybe using generic VESA, but that's not what your hoping for I believe)

The x1600 (same basically as the retail iMACs) and some x300 varieties using PCI-E have been reported as fully working.

I can report factually that the Connect3D X800 GTO Crossfire Ready does NOT work.

So there's no way to get QE/CI running on an X800 PCIE if I understand right?

That's correct. I've followed both this & the win2osx forum, and anything in the X800 series can be counted out.

I've read through so many threads the past hour I don't have anything straight anymore.

There is a much greater range of QE/CI enabled cards if using an AGP one. The only surefire successes I've seen so far in the "x" series (PCI-E) are with x1600 cards, and with x300 cards. The x300 successes are with cards that use REAL video ram, NOT the ones that latch onto system ram.

So I've seen-- I don't even have an AGP slot on this PC, unfortunately. If I'm not mistaken, most cards have dedicated VRAM nowadays, it's the cheap ones that use shared memory, no?

Maybe some day I'll build an OS X friendly system, but it won't be for a while unfortunately.

You need to search for one of the ATI threads - a user naemd koverg has put together a binary patching script that will allow use of the ati x800 and numerous other cards. Note my sig - ATI X800 full QE & CI, this card is correctly recognized as a PCI-x, nad the card memory is fully seen. This is under 10.4.5, but the same result occured under 10.4.4 for me. Others have reported that these patches work for 10.4.3 systems.
