marvguitar
I installed this system over the weekend and documented everything. I went through it and it was not easy but i now have a very clean install of both OSs and i'm happy! This forum helped me a lot and i thought i would share my findings even though it it pretty system specific. Everything works flawlessly, Video, Audio, Lan, Keyboard & mouse, i even plugged my iPhone, external USB drives, Sata internal you name it. I thought it could help some people so here we go. My System ASUS P5P800 Pentium 4 3.2Ghz / 2 Gig RAM BFG 6800 Ultra OC 1) HARDWARE SETUP Install the DVD drive as MASTER and HDD as SLAVE on same ribbon. *Make sure to use the right jumper settings / no CS (Cable Select) NOTE: Once everything is setup you can install the HDD as MASTER and CDROM as Slave to remove the error message(No master HD etc.) 2) BIOS - Start by loading the DEFAULT SETTINGS (F2) - Go to the POWER settings and enable both ACPI 2.0 and ACPI APIC Support - Go to BOOT MENU and in the BOOT DEVICE PRIORITY, select the CDROM as the first one and HDD as second - Save and Exit 3) KALYWAY 10.5.1 INSTALLATION - Insert Kalyway CD and boot the Installer(it takes a while so relax) - Once the installer is booted, select the language and click the arrow. - Start disk Util and make 2 MBR (master boot record) partitions. 1 Extended Journaled (OSX) and 1 FAT (Windows) Apply and close DISK UTIL. - Select the partition on which you want to install OSX and click NEXT - Select CUSTOMIZE and select the "NVINJECT Gfnvidia Desktop" driver and change the bootlader from GUID to MBR. - Continue with Installation, you can skip the DVD verification. Sit back and relax it will reboot automatically when installation is completed. 4) FIRST LEOPARD BOOT / LAN INSTALLATION - Start by restoring the default look of Leopard by installing "Restore_Factory_Desktop_settings.pkg" - The audio is installed by default but remember that you have to connect the speakers / headphones into the LINEOUT jack (blue) - To install the LAN, copy "skge.kext" from the "Network" folder to the desktop and open TERMINAL Type: sudo -s (password) cp -R (drag and drop the file and remove the / at the end) /System/Library/Extensions/ rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.mkext reboot *After rebooting goto SYSTEM PREFERENCE/NETWORK and delete every connection except the "ETHERNET" one and the network will be activated. 5) INSTALLING WINDOWS - Insert the XP install CD and reboot - Install XP on the FAT partition and finish install until reboot and complete installation. - Once in XP, Install Chipset, LAN and Audio, download Nvidia Driver and reboot. It will automatically reboot in XP 6) REACTIVATING THE OSX PARTITION / ENABLING DUALBOOT - Install Acronis Disk Director from the "Software" folder. SHUT DOWN Computer. - Connect the HDD as MASTER and CDROM as Slave and Start computer. Boot in XP - Start Acronis and click on the "NONE" partition and select "Make Active" from the left sidebar menu. Click the flag icon at the top and proceed. - Shutdown computer and reboot to select which OS you would like to use.
