rfuilrez
So I'm in a unique situation. I installed Zeph. 10.5.2 on it's own SATA hard drive. Dual booting WinXP x64 off another hard drive. I used Acronis Disk Directer to shrink the Win XP drive, so I could make a small data drive. I gave it the settings and rebooted. Used the windows drive manager to format as Fat32, and booted into OSX. I also have a 3rd hard drive which I use for time Machine. The backup has well over 5000 pictures, and 20gb of music in it that I would rather not lose. Formatted GUID with a single partition. After booting into OSX, my Time Machine drive is gone. Disk Utility Says the hard drive is MBR. So I boot back into windows. Disk Directer says the drive is GUID. I'm so lost as to how to approach this recovery, and if it's even possible. Any ideas? rfuilrez
So I managed to recover the drive. After some digging around in the CLI I found this to work gpt recover /dev/disk2 It rewrote the GUID Partition table, and I now have my Time Machine backups back Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/92673-recover-hfs-partition/#findComment-662012 Share on other sites
Panarchy
Thanks... Hmm, I'll have to give it a try. I didn't make any time machine backups, nor did I use GUID (used MBR instead). Will it still work for me? If so, how do I get to the prompt? (or just from the kalyway disc?) Thanks in advance, Panarchy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/92673-recover-hfs-partition/#findComment-959863 Share on other sites

Had the same problem with my primary OSX GUID HD after running Partition Magic (Powerquest) from Windows (running on separate MBR HD). Unfortunately I found this thread too late (after complete Time Machine restore).
