Soldierboy
Alright, so I've done a ton of reading before I took the plunge and downloaded the DVD image, burned, booted with it. Not sure what the problem is. I'm not sure that its even installing correctly. I go through all of the steps, create partition, click next, shows only that one partition, I select it and click install to this drive. After about 20 minutes, the progress bar is only 25% or less, then goes to black screen with some text (not understandable by me) after about a minute it reboots the PC. Hmm..must be done installing I think. I leave disc in, I touch no key, I let it countdown and begin booting. Gray apple screen shows, with a little swirling indicator for about 10 seconds and PC simply reboots. It goes no further. BTW, yes the boot flag is on the partition (per GParted). Specs: Dell Inspiron E1505 ATI X1400 Intel 3945abg (tried disabling this in BIOS as well) 120gb sata Centrino Core Duo 1.83ghz I also can't seem to figure out how to get to the "customize software" screen on the installation that I keep reading about. Is that only for the iATKOSv1.0i disk? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/92668-iatkosv10ir2-e1505-problems/ Share on other sites
rickdmer
I had the same problem with my 1705 (basically the same laptop but 17" instead of 15"). I'm pretty sure you have to disable dual core processing in the dell bios. Leopard will only use one core for some reason. Edit: Also, I have the X1400 as well, and it doesn't not work well with Leopard. At least a few months ago when I tried it. I had to run it with a screen resolution of 1024 or something low (which on a 1920x1200 display is not fun). Soldierboy
Thank you for your reply. I'll try disabling dual-core in BIOS. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/92668-iatkosv10ir2-e1505-problems/#findComment-661301 Share on other sites
Treyarch
You can also boot with the "cpus=1" flag so you don't have to mess around with your bios settings all the time. For the "Customize" screen, it's on the bottom right at the 2nd or 3rd screen, I think it's the screen where the see the OSX DVD -> HDD, it might be called "Options", not too sure though. Soldierboy
Thank you. The installer seems to have gotten farther, like 40% but then it panics, last line I see on screen says something about ppp. I think I may try a different DVD image.
