Hopefully you guys can help, I finally decided it was about time I had a serious look at MAC OS so decided to give it a go by loading onto my laptop I usually use for Vista, etc. It's a Santa Rosa Based Core 2 Duo Setup.

I am downloading the iATKOS Release at the moment and know my Core 2 Duo CPU will do the job but wondered about the rest of my specs, in particular my Graphics and Wireless Card. I have the GMA 965 (x3100) Intel Graphics chipset installed displaying at 1280 x 800 and for my wireless it's a Intel 4965AGN.

You guys any idea whether I can use my wireless OK and be able to operate at a decent display resolution ?

Many thanks for your help, I'm used to be windows'ee :) , work in IT and everything but never once considered using MAC OS till one of my fellow engineers brought his new MACbook thingy in, Leopard looks really nice so wanted to have a nosey ;)

Yes, although i would recommend Kalyway.

It has much better wifi support,

my intel mifi worked right after installation, but your Wired lan might not work after the 10.5.2 update, you will have to figure it out,

Core 2 duo is perfect and the resoution will be the same. Make sure you dont have a SATA hard drive though, many run into problems that way.

Tell us how you do. and if you have any problems.

Good luck :>

That was quick, thanks for the reply. I looked for the Kalyway one on my usenet groups as I can't use torrent's, get crappy connections, but could not find the leopard one.Glad to know about the graphics and wireless, as for my ethernet adapter why so (mine is a RTL8101E if it helps). Also I am fairly sure my HDD is SATA, think they all are now are they not ? (Only got this laptop in August). Also, any idea on my sound ? It's a Realtek HD Audio intergrated thing.

hmm... I had problems with sata on hdd, but try anyway.

if you get "still waiting for root device " than you will need to try another way

remember to type f8 then -v at the prompt to show messages

I think rtl is realtek is it not?? You might have to look through the forum to find some drivers called "kexts"

good luk

OK, I'm stuck. I installed using the instructions, it rebooted, then I put the GParted CD in to check that the Boot checkbox was ticked which it was, I then rebooted the laptop, it loads the darwin loader and says push enter to boot, did that and nothing happens, tried putting in the -v and hit enter and nothing happens, it just sits there at the boot: bit.

Arrggh, what have I done wrong ?
