I am simply trying to copy some files from a non-bootable OSX partition that is formatted HFS+ to another drive formatted as HFS+ (no journaling enabled). Knoppix refused to mount the partition as writable and it's really starting to annoy me! I manually mount the HFS+ partitions from the Terminal window, but regardless of how I try to change the permissions on the drive without journaling, Knoppix will not let me make it writable. What do I need to do to be able to write to this drive?

Besides you probably need to log in as root (it can be done) and an installed Linux would probably be better than a Live CD.
