cwestpha
I bowed down and got a 08' Mac Pro with my developer discount. Needless to say with all of this extra performance laying around I want to start playing with some of the server tools with all of my family's macs (hacked and not). I specifically want to enable a VPN server to aid in management of everyone's computers when they are out of town. Can you rip out components from the server version of OS X and install them on the client to add specific functionality? For example: adding the VPN server components and then install the server admin controls? Can I just perform an "upgrade" to the server version and not lose any functionality or have other unwanted side-effects on top of my 10.5.2 client install? xeon4j
hey i had the same questiong 2 weeks ago and i can tell you that you can upgrade from leopard client to the server without loosing any application. once you install the server from the active client the computer will reboot and then the server pannel appears and u will have to fill all the info....by the way make sure you have a legit copy of the server and the key because once you done that there is not going back. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry646430 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/91904-turn-105-client-into-105-server/#findComment-655913 Share on other sites
