dismal33 Posted March 4, 2008 Share Posted March 4, 2008 so i got everything all up and running pretty much with this setup ecs 945gt-m w/ celeron 430 an open box pioneer sata dvd recorder after rebates will be about $25 2 gb ram about $50 and a 40gb seagate ide hd. installed kalyway 10.5.1 success first time (efi selected) ran above sigmatel audio patch everything was great. i had another 200 gb maxtor ide drive that i was planning on using for programs and data and keep the OS on the 40gb drive. but final cut needs to be on the native drive. so i tried installing on the maxtor a bunch of times.. when it did work i got the black blinking curser screen. thinking it was a crappy install i cloned the original 40gb drive (after wiping it and reformatting of course) and it looked like everything was there etc.. but still when i boot from it... black blinking cursor screen. it seems like a lot of people have these blinking cursor problems but through all my searching i can't seem to find a solution is there a known issue with maxtor drives? are jumper settings important? i've tried them all. why would one drive work but not the other?
