After doing some searching, others have suggested booting to safe mode or single user mode in order to boot without a graphics card; however since I'll be running a server, I wanted to see what can be done other than that so that I can reliably boot sans graphics card. The board I'll be using is the venerable Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 version 1.0 (no onboard graphics either). I'd really like to get this up and running then use remote desktop or screen sharing to administer it so it can be used like a server should be: headless.

 

I'm thinking maybe an edit of com.apple.boot.plist may be in order, or perhaps a deletion of some kext's or maybe something really cool that I don't even know about would make this work. I'd rather get some help from the community before borking my install. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

i think that's what i'm going to have to do. i found a thread on apple insider dating back to 2003 that was about this very same topic. alas, i guess some things just don't change...
