daenney
Hey guys, I got Leopard 10.5.1 working on a Vaio n31m with the iATKOS image with the stock kernel but I have a small problem, networking. The built-in lan is a Yukon 88E8036 card which I got working by editing the Info.plist file as described in: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=28680 The only thing I had to change was editing the AppleYukon2.kext/Info.plist instead of AppleYukon.kext/Info.plist The other issue is the more annoying one, it's wlan. When I looked up the information through a Ubuntu live CD i got the following: product id: 0x1c vendor id: 0x168c According to pcidatabase.com: 0x001c Atheros a/b/g 0x168C Atheros Communications Inc. I applied the 10.4.5 IO80211 networking patch and now the wlan card gets detected but that is as far as it goes. When I hit the Advanced tab for the Airport device in System preferences > network it show no AirportID, just 00:00:00:00:00:00, the interface is shown as Off, if I hit the Turn Airport On button nothing happens. The problem seems that though I kind of recognizes the Atheros chip it has no clue how to deal with it. When I look into the AirportAtheros5424.kext/Info.plist file there is an entry for pci168,1c. Did some Google'ing and searching these forums and there's a ton of things on Atheros wlan, applied a set of patches, nothing changed, in the end I ended up breaking the system rather than fixing it. So i was wondering, is there anyone who can tell me how to get the damned thing going?
daenney
Well what the hell... Just appleid the Kalyway 10.5.2 combo update and Airport just works, maybe it was a mistake on my side to apply the IO80211.kext and did it work all laong with Leopard or the Kalyway update did something, either way, it's fixed
