mtotho
I was on my dads hackintosh that i made for him. I updated the to 10.5.2... and then the graphics update. After the updates the ati x1900xtx stopped working correctly. I tried various kexts. I ended up going into the ATI Radeon.kext and changed the id in the info.plist.. but unfortunately osx reformatted it as text file instead of plist without me noticing. Now when i boot up i get to the blue screen like mac is about to load.. i even get my mouse.. but random lines are across the screen and it never boots fully into leopard.. here is my question finally. Can i put a different card in.. it will probably be a 7900gs or 8800gts (out of another computer of course) and boot up properly (of course i wont have qe/ci). But will it know to boot of the nvidia kexts and any problem i had with ati kexts shouldnt matter? then i could just fix the radeon kexts and switch back? Or maybe i wont switch back.. my main question is will i be able to boot with an nvidia card if my ATi kexts are screwed. plympton
Yes, you should be able to put a different video card in for testing - also booting with the "-s" flag will drop you into single-user mode - helps to make changes. Mac auto-configures the system every boot and loads the appropriate drivers (like Linux). -Dan Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/90387-switching-video-cards/#findComment-645989 Share on other sites
