JMicron IDE Question

Hey guys, I'm relatively new to this, so I hope I make sense in this post.

Basically, I have an ASUS P5K-E Wifi-AP motherboard, with an Intel Q6600 (which seems to be an incredibly popular configuration!). As you may know, it has a Jmicron IDE controller. I have an IDE Optical Drive, and therefore have my doubts that I will be able to boot an install disc.

Are there any flavours of OSx86 that will boot from an IDE Optical Drive on a Jmicron controller? I have a SATA Hard Drive, so once installed I shouldn't have any problems.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Gav

I have an ASUS P5B Deluxe, and I remember once being able to boot off the Jmicron while I was messing with different BIOS versions reverting back and forth I forgot which I used. I didn't really want to mess with that since it could potentially turn out bad. So I just used an external USB DVD-Drive. Hope this helps you some, from what I read it doesn't look like you will be able to do this.
