NTLDR (abbreviation of NT Loader) is the boot loader for all releases of Microsoft's Windows NT operating system up to and including Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. NTLDR is typically run from the primary hard disk drive, but it can also run from portable storage devices such as a CD-ROM, USB flash drive, or floppy disk. NTLDR can also load a non NT-based operating system given the appropriate boot sector in a file.

Are you trying to boot it within windows?

No i put the iso on a separate hard drive and tried to boot it by restarting the computer.

the hard drive had a previous installation of windows xp on it but i erased all of the data files would this have anything to do with it?

The only reason i used a hard drive to boot off of is because i dont have a dvd burner.

Go to the hardrives makers website and get their utility (free download)

It will expand to a floppy

boot from that floppy

write 0's to the drive

That will "erase it all', MBR, and everything

I am under the understanding that if you format the drive to Fat32 you can copy your disk over.
