Whenever I boot the Jas Mac 10.4.8 (Intel/AMD with PPF1 & PPF2), I get to the blue screen with the beachball cursor, then the language screen comes up, I continue, then the the Preparing Installation... appears, then I finally get to the Installer screen, and then while it is installing I get this message:

There were errors installing the software.

Please try installing again.

My only choice is to Restart.

This is preventing me from installing, and I do not know why this is happening. My CPU is compatible with SSE and SSE2 (Intel).

But I did notice that while the scripts are loading before the blue screen appears (in -v mode), I get a few unable to mount errors.

The DVD was burned at 1x speed in CloneDVD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I will post my solution ASAP :D

SUCCESS!

I finally got this mess working! Here is what I did (using the x86 flat img method):

1. Boot into the system via VMware. Then, navigate via the Finder to /System/Library/Extensions. There, you need to delete the AppleTPMACPI.kext file.

2. After I deleted this file, I restarted the machine (still in VMware). The machine got A LOT faster.

3. I rebooted the physical machine, and noticed that I got different errors this time.

4. Rebooted again, and typed "platform=ACPI", and viola, the machine booted fine and was FAST! I am very satisfied with my machine, even though the 10.4.1 is a little outdated...

But I can't complain. This has been a hard battle. Now the only thing I have left to do is find drivers for almost everything...lol.

I really hope this helps some of you. I know, it is very frustrating! But DON'T give up! I didn't, and I got it.

Thank you so much for the reply! I am downloading GParted right now, and will post my success/failure later today.

Also, what did you format it as? NTFS, FAT, FAT32, etc? I'm using FAT32, because that's what people said to use. But if you used something else, I'll give it a try.

Nope, I still can't install. Now, it's not even getting to the main install screen. I get the blue screen with the beachball, wait a while, then the screen goes black and a few commands come up and the machine shuts down. I think though this has to do with my "hardware" disk failures I've been getting from GParted...
