deadhead
Hiya xbench results: Results: 165.79 CPU Test: 186 Thread Test: 288 Memory Test: 220 Quartz Graphics Test: 298 OpenGL Graphics Test: 201 User Interface Test: 497 Disk Test: 54 Specs: Q6600 @ 3Ghz 2GB memory 8800GT Used the apple leopard graphics update and then the 10.5.2 Nvidia installer with the 10.5.2 kexts, still slow. I know the disk has poor performance, but I dont see how it should affect the overall graphics in leopard...E.g. when I play a video in one window its laggy in another.. The thing is those numbers in xbench doesnt mean anything as the UI is really laggy...totally unacceptable as its a cutting edge graphics card :-( This is really fustrating, I so hope you can help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88707-1052-8800gt-poor-performance/ Share on other sites
cyclonefr
Xbench is {censored}. And change your DVI port to the other, won't be laggy. Have a nice day ! cyclonefr
I guess on a real mac that this port doesn't even work : it's a port you need to use if you have another monitor, that's all. shanus
On a side note can I ask what brand 8800GT you got working in 10.5.2 and how much work/tweaking did you have to do to get it working? Is it reliable? Artifacts or anything? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88707-1052-8800gt-poor-performance/#findComment-638601 Share on other sites
cyclonefr
any 8800GT will do. It's easy : just pop in nvinject and everything is working as on a real mac, except you need to plug your monitor to DVI port 1 (and not 2 as originally posted). The reason I was asking is I have leopard running, I just need a stable video card. My hack Mac is running super stable as long as I don't enable CI or QE, but when I do, my ATI card works but freezes up every so often. Looking for a replacement, stable card and the 8600GTS and 8800 GT seem to be the Apple supported ones... cyclonefr
You won't have any stability problem with 8800GT. Plus it's really FAST Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88707-1052-8800gt-poor-performance/#findComment-639648 Share on other sites
r00ter
Shanus, All 6XXX and 7XXX series are supported. My 7300GS tackles Halo and Unreal Tournament 2004 daily without hassle. Full QE and CI support as well Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88707-1052-8800gt-poor-performance/#findComment-640141 Share on other sites
shanus
Picked up an 8600GTS at newegg on sale for $86 (sold out in a couple hours!) and it works great. Solved my issues I was having my ATI 1650... which was a fine card but just not hack compatible. Thanks for the advice! Yuusharo
You won't have any stability problem with 8800GT. Plus it's really FAST I agree. And thanks to cyclonefr for posting the real Mac Pro gfx string, my system runs incredibly stable and FAST with 10.5.2. I've also noticed that Scott Dangel's installer v33 is also very fast and stable, but breaks my sleep so I don't use it. I had major performance issues with 10.5.2 using v32 and he seems to have fixed all those problems. In any case, the 8800GT is gold ^^ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/88707-1052-8800gt-poor-performance/#findComment-656128 Share on other sites
