Hey all...I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a solution to being able to install Windows on an Intel RAID (ICH9) array while the OS X drive is outside the array? I have an x38 chipset and I miss my RAID on Vista, but I had to change the setup to just AHCI mode to get OS X to install. Does anyone know how I can keep the RAID with OS X? And I'm looking for solutions OTHER THAN having to change modes each time I want to boot into either OS. Anyone?

u need to do dual booting, and use chainloading... i ve 3 raid drives for vista... and using a hdd out of raid for osx :unsure:

just search for dual booting vista and os x...

I AM dual booting (in AHCI mode). That's not my problem. The problem is when I turn RAID mode on OSX boots and then hangs. That's what I'm trying to get at.

I would suggest a secondary RAID controller. AHCI on the original controller for OS X and raid on the secondary controller. If you're lucky, the controller will have working drivers for OS X and will be able to access your RAID-ed drives.

That's all fine and good, except that I know it has worked for people in the past with Tiger the way I'm describing it. One other option I have would be to install os x on an e-sata drive since that's on a completely different controler on the motherboard, but that kinda defeats what I'm trying to do--keep everything inside. If this board had a couple of sata ports on another controler, I'd be set...grrrrrrrr. I know there are other people out there who want/need this. Doesn't anyone out there have a solution? A driver? A kext? Anything?

Hi,

I have Asus P5Q3 ICH10R. I had two 160gb hdd and i was trying to use vista on raid array and OsX on non raid in a different partition just using only these two drives.

I've been reading much of these issues for long ago, but i can't make it dual boot which is;

I have 2 sata discs with raid0 Vista installed in ICH10R on Bios. I used iDeneb 10.5.4

1st method I tried;

1a)

I created 2 Raid volumes with Ctrl+I method in Bios. One is for 200Gb (then i made two 100Gb. partitions while installing Vista). I installed Vista first on 100Gb. and other one is for my backups.

1b)

The last 98Gb for Leopard.

I installed Vista was ok. Leopard installed too, than no boot at all.

2nd method I tried;

I did same thing which I followed on 1a above but left rest as it was.

And tried to make Raid0 with these left alone space (which is 49gb from disc1 and 49bg from disc2) in Disk Utility in Leopard.=No way... because Leo see my two HDD seperated with their full 160gb space. (It doesn't recognize IH10R Raid arrays.

3rd method I tried;

Same as 2nd method instead I tried to instal Leopard without raid (which i used 49gb from the disc1)=No way...

So there is no chance keeping Vista on Raid array and OsX on non raid partition just using only two sata drives, because OsX can install but didn't boot while in Raid Mode instead of AHCI in bios. (or does it?).

I read mostly all of this forums since days&nights (oh my eyes) and just found there is another way to use Asus Ezbackup thing to make raid array doesn't hurt OsX booting.

Maybe; to make 2partitions for each disc first, then make raid array with partition1 from disc one and partition1 from disc2 for Vista using Asus Ezbackup sata ports. Then use partition2 from disc1 for OsX and lets say partition2 from disc2 for data for example could help? Any ideas?

Make this thing short;

I want to install Vista on Raid0. And want to install Leopard with dual boot. It will be perfect too, if Leopard could install with any Raid version. But its not so important if can't, because Leopard works fast enough on my pc without Raid.

So how to make dual boot with Vista and Leopard together in two 160Gb HDD (Vista should be on Raid0)?

Thanks in Advance
