Ok,

First let start by saying that for a while i had my Leopard OS working perfectly, with final cut pro, modified kext wireless internet, video card working, audio working.... the thing was beautiful, mostly due to this wonderful site.

But then, out of no where, when i tried booting to the Leopard OS last week it would just hang on the blue screen with the mouse (right after the white/gray apple logo).

I would rate my computer knowledge at moderately high, but i am dumbfonded by this. I almost 99% postive that i didnt change a thing that would cause this OS to not work. My setup is this:

Dell Dimension 8400

P4 3.2 GHz processor w/ HT

80 GB SATA HD (with Windows XP on it)

160 GB IDE HD (with Leopard on it)

4 GB DDR2 800 RAM (yes i know about the 3GB limit, its occupying space until i finish building my other computer)

ATI Raedon X1600 Pro 512 MB

I would really really really like to not have to reinstall Leopard b/c it took me a long time to get everything up and running.

So are there any usual reasons for the boot to hang? or anything else you think will help me?

Thanks in advance for the help you have already given, and for the help you are bound to continue giving me.

ok i have it running now. I had to replace the AppleSMBIOS.kext. dont know what happened to the other one.

but now my final cut pro wont boot up (the splash screen comes up, but then cancels itself when the program should come up.) and when i go to "About This Mac" the computer restarts. wierd.

ever hear of this?

I had found a .kext around here in these forums a while back and never used it. just yesterday, i switched that one in, replacing the other, and it booted up. i dont remember where it was exactly.
