USB Keyboard & Mouse stop working after 10min or 1-2hours

Hello all,

I'm having USB problems which surface sometimes as quick as 10 min into desktop, or as long as 1-2 hours of usage. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it, and am having trouble figuring out what to do next.

 

When it goes out, i'll try and unplug and replug the mouse and/or keyboard and it doesn't fix it. I thought i was locking up with a kernel panic but upon further investigation i see that osx is still running fine, i see IM's coming in and activity on the desktop but mouse/keyboard are unresponsive no matter what i do.

 

I've tried replacing IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext (less the old system.kext) from at the end of this guide: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=83092 but nothing changed.

 

EDIT: I've tried a patched IOHDIXController.kext, same results, trying another one now from here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry621261 , i'll report back on what happans.

EDIT: Didn't make a difference, happaned again. Trying IOUSBFamily kext from 10.5.1 now, to be cont'd

EDIT: well that didn't work either

EDIT: I've tried modifying IOUSBFamily with the ECHI fix and worked great for usb 2.0 throughput speeds but i'm still getting these random drops

 

can anyone shed some light on the matter or having the same issue?

Ok this is drivin me nuts, i'd have an almost perfect install that seems to run very well aside from a couple problems. these usb random drops one being the most annoying since there is no panic or error log to consult

 

if anyone is having similar usb drops please post your experience and what you've tried to resolve the issue
