What makes me wonder and have my thoughts is the speed in final cut pro

it's never real time ,if i put 1,2 effects it drops frames etc etc

so today i boot with cpus=1 and i realized that the speed is almost the same as before (WITH 4 cores)

if i boot normaly, in system activities i can see that it's using the 4 cores together but i don't really see a huge difference and for sure final cut should run realtime in Q6600 /3.ghzcan

somebody help with tests?

xbench with cpu=1 (1 core) and normal boot (4 cores) gets the same results

is this normal?what would be the best way to test if both cores work correctly?

something like prime95 for windows

TEST FINAL CUT:

import a .mpg file (mpeg2) in final cut

i also tried with .mov files and set a simple effect in the video' speed

set the speed (right click in video timeline/speed) to 400 and press space to playBACK

for me it stops with a message about dropped frames ,but even if i click "ignore" i can see the playback skipping

no realtime

and this supposed to be the simplest effect ,premiere in XP does this for fun ,even with blur+++ effects in the video+ the speed

what about you?

EDIT: i checked now with uncompressed AVI and it feels a little faster

but even now if i add many effects it will lose realtime

EXAMPLE:(please test it) add a time effect in the video (widetime)

effects/video filters/time/wide time

it's like playing in 1 frame per second !@#!

please test or give me an example to test

ANOTHER THING:what should be the best codeck apple use?

in pc in know that it's good to edit video with uncompressed DV i think for apple it's not the same

so if i need to recompress this video (right click in video/recompress/media manager/recompress media using: ?)

which codeck?

GUYS DO SOMETHING TO FIX THE "EDIT" option in posts...it fu@#$ up the post
