Manny0825
I am trying to install the Uphuck 10.4.9 v1.3 AMD. I installed it multiple times and got it up to the gray apple screen. I tried safe mode, verbose mode, and every other mode there is, but the "still waiting for root device" error comes up and continues. I did research this whole week. I did use the search button and everything for all my problems and none got answered. Reveeen
Maybe I'm an "old poop", or just an idiot, do you guys know how to list your computer specs? Or, do you just not choose to? Or, what? According to: http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/compaq-pr....html?tag=specs You have a SIS 760 chipset in there. SIS chipsets are "known" troublesome/not workable, some ASUS boards (solomon K8S-LA) are known troublesome. The Linux guys claim the AGP is "broken" on this chipset ("broken", or not working "right"). All in all, you have a poor candidate for this, maybe pre-installing on another computer, maybe installing/booting from a USB drive, is an answer. Frankly, I wouldn't be bothered. Manny0825
Well thanks for the help. I just feel all the sarcasm was not necessary. You seem like your getting mad at me and felt that this question was a waste of time. If you feel that way then you didn't have to answer the question. I appreciate the time you took, but be a little more nice. I mean, you are the one who chose to answer this question. Reveeen
"You seem like your getting mad at me" No Sir, not mad, simply wondering how you could hope to install an operating system that requires informed choices, when you simply do not know what is in your computer, or, if you do know, what the secret is? You say you searched the forum, and the main page, again I wonder how you could, not knowing what is in there? You are venturing far, far, from Windoze territory, during the install you are presented with MANY install choices (choices Windoze makes for you), your chance of success is very small if you do not know what you have.
