truetigger Posted February 17, 2008 Share Posted February 17, 2008 Hi and thanks for looking. I try to install leopard. It checks the integrity of the disc before installing and finds no errors!!! Then durring install it gets to about asa third of the way through and stops. Then the error appears saying "Install Failed". It also says the installer could not validate the contents of the "essentials" package. What confuses me is that when the installer checks the disc, it finds no errors!!! HELP!!! Thanks. truetigger Posted February 18, 2008 Author Share Posted February 18, 2008 Thanks for the reply, and I'm really sorry, i thought it must be something on the disc. Sorry about my lack of knowledge. Ok its a thinkpad R50e and as far as i know the only thing of hardware out of line in it only has 256ram (ive got 256 more being sent to make it 512), but i didnt think this would cause a problem with the install. Would it? I have 1.4.5 installed, or did have. SO i botted from the disc, chose disc utility, then formated whold drive mac journeled (dont know what the guid or mbr thing in intructions are, or how to do that, so i just formated mac journaled) so could that be the problem? If so how do i work arround it? The next step was customising the install. I chose vanilla kernalACIPlattform and everthing under it, SSE2 System, Netwrok drivers and everything under that, and under bootloaders, guid. So could one of those be causing the problems? Sorry if ive done something really obvious, and thanks for any help you may be able to give!!!! truetigger Posted February 19, 2008 Author Share Posted February 19, 2008 checked the md5 hash and its e2bb7c3960364c20704ad7da0d591d0f so it may be the image im burning. Surely the disc checker would find that though wouldnt it? Maybe i will try and download another one just incase!
