Hi all,

I have made a small mediacenter with an old IBM ThinkCentre S51 (celeron 2,6) and Intel 915G chip (very small machine, just fine for this). I'm using a 10.4.10 dvd and everythings runs ... except USB! this is verystrange, this type of machine is in the HCL (HCL 10.4.5)

If all ports are listed in Info profiler, you can't make the high speed running. It is everytime à 12mb/s. This is a big problem, can make copy of all divx and mp3 from my external drive without taking hours...

I have already tested several methods founb in this forum: trying the darwin drivers, the IOUSBFamilly from previous OSX, upgrading to 10.4.11... nothing.

But if I try kalyway, it is running fin. but at this time it's the gma not working fully (no CI+QE) (vlc and front row not working)

Is it the IOUSBFamilly the problem? Perhaps no... if someone could tell me where can be the problem to make the usb not working at full speed.

I am having the same problem and I am looking for a *different* solution [because the way I have found does not work very well for me as you will see]...

In many bios's there is an option for legacy USB. It could also be called USB Keyboard support or something similar. Enabling these settings can make the bios load extra code that may interfere with the USB implementation in osX. This is a bit of speculation, but what is fact is that when I *DISABLE* the USB Legacy Support I get *all* of my USB ports working at high speed [not 480 mbps in real life, but a heck of a lot more than 12 mbps!!!]

If you are only using your media center as a mac [no dual booting] then this solution may work for you.

The problem is that I have a multi-boot system and need the USB Legacy support to be able to use my USB keyboard for my multiboot menu :D

Anyway, give it a try... it works for me :)

Running 4x4x4 [Quad Core - 4 gigs of Ram - 4 OS's] on a p5b-vm...

Good Luck,

J
