lifeisoverrated
Good day Insanelymacers! , After I updated my brazilmac/efi8-10.5.1 install to kaly 10.5.2 (9.2 kernel) the fan of my cpu (core2duo) works continously and without pauses. Is it bad for my notebook? Does somebody know how to solve this issue? (The fan of my gpu works like always.) Thanks! SticMAC™
i had this on my old HP notebook! In the Bios is a setting to run the fan when plugged in, if it is ON you should set it to OFF! I'm not sure but it is something to do with the fact that the software wants to control it? ALSO, and i'm not sure, you will have to test, i think that it works "vice-versa" ie: if was on and you updated set it ot OFF or if it was off when you updated set it to ON, try it but i think the first option will work! lifeisoverrated
Hey SticMan, thanks, but my bios doesn't have that option! Anyone with another suggestion? Superhai
It is not bad for your notebook, but bad for your batterytime and your ears. kyrian
I have a similar problem. When the system becames hot (70C) the fans start to work with more speed then louder all the time, even if I close all applications and stop doing anything for a long time and the temperature goes down to 38C. No matter what I do, fans continue working at max speed. If I do a reset then its ok again. Any ideas? Thanks a lot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87879-cpu-fan-continously-working-after-update-to-1052/#findComment-628300 Share on other sites

lifeisoverrated
I'll try that, thanks! Otherwise I will have to downgrade to 10.5.1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87879-cpu-fan-continously-working-after-update-to-1052/#findComment-628302 Share on other sites
koonimo
dont downgrade yet........... just do it the old fashioned but very effective way......... just add fn=3 to ur kernel flags in ur com.apple.Boot.plist......... it looks pretty simple but it just work.......its the protocols apple was using to control the system fun according to they cpu usage i am told on some old apple models n it still works at least for me..... all the best Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87879-cpu-fan-continously-working-after-update-to-1052/#findComment-628494 Share on other sites

koonimo
in the kernel flags.....like this <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>fn=3</string> in the kernel flags u can put commands like -v,cpus=1 ,-f ...............n stuff like that all the best Hey Koonimo, Here's my plist, where do put fn=3? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> </dict> </plist> Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87879-cpu-fan-continously-working-after-update-to-1052/#findComment-628902 Share on other sites
CKING
I can give my testimony that koonimo's method of this is working perfectly with my TOSHIBA A200 AH6 I can now hear the fan working and resting intermittantly as it does under windows now Thanks and good luck everyone... now the only things left is to get wifi working, wake it up after sleeping, etc., etc. dont downgrade yet...........just do it the old fashioned but very effective way......... just add fn=3 to ur kernel flags in ur com.apple.Boot.plist......... it looks pretty simple but it just work.......its the protocols apple was using to control the system fun according to they cpu usage i am told on some old apple models n it still works at least for me..... all the best Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87879-cpu-fan-continously-working-after-update-to-1052/#findComment-665418 Share on other sites
