elisan
hi, maybe the file permissions have to be resetted. Boot as single user (-s) and type: diskutil repairPermissions / (note the uppercase "P" and the space before the /) after a few minutes (depending on the speed of your harddisk) its ready and then just type "reboot". Jophan
I'm running 10.4.11 with a Samsung ML-1710 printer. Printing had been working fine for some time, and then, just when I needed to print out a boarding pass, it wasn't working anymore. Argh! I checked the USB connection, restarted the printer, restarted the computer, got the printer to produce a test page (so I knew the printer itself wasn't the problem), but couldn't print from any application. I opened Console to check the log and found "Failed to create PMPrintContext." I had no idea what that meant, but a quick search via Google led me to this page, where the suggestion to repair permissions (I did it via Disk Utility, rather than the command line) solved the problem. My heartfelt thanks to elisan for posting that simple but effective solution. Jophan
