rajesheber
hi, I have installed a new graphics card. XFX nvidia Geforce 8600GT with 256 MB RAM. I installed kalyway 10.5.1 and later updated to 10.5.2 using kalyway patch for 10.5.2. I also install the patch for the original vanilla kernel. I tried to install NVinject using the NVinstaller but on reboot i get a blue screen. No desktop even in safe mode. I also tried graphics update but still no results. Kindly help me to find the solution thanx in advance My Spec: Processor: intel core2Quad @2.4 Mob: Asus p5b-vm RAM: 2*1 GB DD2 RAM @800 MHZ HDD: 2 * 80 GB Seagate 7200.7 Graphics card: XFX nvidia GeForce 8600 GT with 256 MB LCD: Viewsonic vx1940w. David86
Why would you patch the kernel, just install os x 10.5.1 apply the 10.5.2 update, using the turtorial in the fourm, dont use the kalyway one since your probably running efi and want to update your kernel, and then get the os x graphics update then install the latest nvinject kext. I have an 8400 inmy second computer and its working great. ps dont use the installer, go to the nviject home page and get the latest one and use kext easy installer , and dont use the one off the kalydisk either Oh and excuse the grammer im in a hurry lol Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87654-geforce-8600-gt-card-problem/#findComment-624093 Share on other sites

David86
you dont need to delete anything i had the same issue by trying to delete that , just run the sript before you install then press ctrl c when the install is done. then go to the directory the tutorial mentions and edit the file named 1 with texedit and look for the line with "Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext" and replace the"Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext" portion with dsmos.kext. Then reboot. Finder would'nt let me access the folder that contained the file i needed so i just dragged it to the desktop, made the changes to the editable one, the dragged the one i couldn't edit the the trash can and put the one i changed in its place. So everything worked great, and i just checked you do have an intel chipset so it should work fine, as long as you have efi running. oh and dont its going to restart during the first boot but thats normal.
