Lincoln
hi, i have used the DD method to copy the .img to a clean hard drive. when i try to boot, it gets to the grey screen with the apple logo, and the thing spins for a while as the OS loads.. after about 7 seconds, the hard drive stops accessing, and the thing stops spinning. it just freezes. i have tried booting into safe mode, it wont work either.. what should i do? thanks in advance. lummox
hi lincoln! i have opened a thread with a similar problem here: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=237. plus, another thread with that theme: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=257 haven't found a solution so far, but keep trying. i can boot from my osx86-partition created out of the deadmoo image within vmware. removing certain kexts seems to work for some people. have you tried booting with in verbose mode (-v)? the error codes that are displayed during bootup with that setting might be helpful. good luck! Zorak
Hi Guys, I just registered because I wanted to add a little input here. I was reading this topic because I couldn't get it working, but unfortunately I couldn't find anything that would help. So I messed around with my computer a bit and got it to boot. I just registered to tell you how: I went into my motherboard's BIOS and disabled all the "special features" like the onboard USB controller and the advanced IDE read/write modes. By default, the USB controller is enabled and the IDE controller is set to write in 32 bit mode. I disabled the USB and disabled 32 bit mode. After that, it boots right into OSX without a problem. When boot with -v the last line I can see is "still waiting for root device" any suggestions?? TIA!!
