death4507 Posted February 14, 2008 Share Posted February 14, 2008 Well PuppetJ it looks like your not the only one. I also read that article and figured it sounded like a interesting project idea. Only I figured I would get a faster CPU and 2GB of ram. So I ordered a Intel E6550 cpu and a single stick 2GB PNYmemory. To be on the safe side I not only downloaded the image linked to in the article that the author claimed to work but I found another torrent as well. Both are Kalyway 10.5.1 and both have the same files on them as far as I can tell in Windows or Linux. But I cant even get the installer to load, and it doesnt seem to matter what combo of install options I use ( -x -s -v cpus=1, vanilla). It always errors on to many files. It eventually puts up a final error up about to many errors loading rebooting in 5 sec. There does seem to be about 10 or so Kexts it hangs on errors out for 4 to 5 tries and moves on, only to hasng up on another .kexts several more lines down the display. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have been playing with this thing for over a week and cant quite figure out if it is BIOS settings I have wrong or a corruption in the DVD somewhere. All I can say is that your system is not booting because of a firewire issue. I also thought the same when my PC was not booting, and I saw this error. It is unrelated, because it still gives it despite Mac OS X working perfectly now. Where it just repeats waiting for root device. Hopefully someone knows how to fix this as the BIOS has limited choices for the Shuttle SD30G2 Plus. I did upgrade to the newest BIOS ver SD30S1A4 but it didn't seem to help. I did get an ID for the mother board though its a Intel 945GC Express +ICH7 southbridge. Any help would be greatly appreciated. On a Shuttle SD30G2???? and how did u update the, bios because i when to the site, when to the RIGHT area, and couldnt update my bios, when i ran it it said wrong part..somthing my bios version is: sd30s1a2, yes i know its odd, but is right i checked it 2x have you got pass the do transfer my account, reloop back to keyboard setup, or is that still an issue?? and have updated to 10.5.2 yet?? So I ended up swapping the SATA hard drive for another 250 GB IDE I had set aside for another project. And everything is up and running and is updated to 10.5.2. So far the only thing that has me considering a reinstall or a roll back with Time Machine to 10.5.1 is now I cant change the screen resolution from 1024x786, and I did have it at 1920x1200 which is native for my monitor. And as for which Shuttle I have the SD30G2 Plus and the current bios last time I checked is SD30S1A4. Hopes this has helped others with the same issues.
