orellius
Long story short. I need to reverse the changes done to my PC after trying to install Leopard (which did work by the way, I just need to remove it). Anywho, I followed this guide (thanks for the good guide!): http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=83689 Hardware: Gigabyte - GA-965P-DS3 E6400 Core2 Duo eVGA Geforce 7950 GT KO 4 x 1 Gb OCZ Platinum XTC Rev 2. 1 x WD 320 Gb SATA 2 x Seagate 500 Gb RAID (mirror) 320 is connected to SATA port 0, 500 Gb's are on Gigabyte purple SATA ports for RAID. _________________________________________________________________________ I tried a triple boot, XP, then Leopard, then Vista, as per the guide. Before putting on Vista I found I needed to reverse the changes (selling this PC to a friend). All partitions were first on the 320 Gb disk. So, with OSX and XP installed, I used Acronis disk manage boot disk thingy (I'm not at home, forget what it's called) to completely delete all partitions (leaving RAID alone). I then created one partition for Vista, and one for storage. I booted into Vista install disk (which I have littetally done countless times before with no issues), chose the partition, formated, tried to continue and got an error like "windows cannot find a partition that can be used...." Rebooted, tried again, same thing. In the OSX Gigabyte guide, it had me change the Native SATA setting, so I changed it back. Same thing again. So I went into BIOS and changed the AHCI setting, finally, Vista install disk recognized the partition. Installed Vista. Rebooted, after post the some kind of Intel RAID configurator came up saying that it "only works in AHCI mode with hard disks and cd drives...please wait". It does its thing, and boots into windows fine. I go into windows and install the Gigabyte RAID drivers so I can see my drive. Doesnt work. Reboot, twice, can finally see the drive. But it still gives me that "intel AHCI message" when its booting, even though it gets past it into windows. To try and rid myself of the weird message I again disabled the AHCI setting, now it will not boot. It posts, the "intel" message is gone, gets to windows Vista boot screen then resets and repeats, neverending. Enable AHCI, can boot to windows. Disable, resets itself continuously. I can only assume it is something to do with my RAID and my AHCI or SATA settings, but can't figure it out after searching around. I had followed my Gigabyte manual to set up RAID before, everything was fine, settings were good. I've even formatted the same disk multiple times since then, and I have never had any issues like this, or needed any driver disks to install windows. I just simple install, then load the drivers for RAID in windows and everything is wonderfull. Any help? Sorry for the long read! Cheers! I will add that I did do some searching and found a couple of things on Google where people had the same issue (or very similar) but they were dead ends.
