Freosan
Hi Fluxus. I was searching forums for a couples weeks for someone trying to install Mac osx on HP xw9300 workstation or Kw8we mobo and was ready to give up until found member cineveggie http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...5985&st=760 and send e-mail to him, no response, then your topic. Could you help me please with installation I'm running Hp xw9300 workstation with modified Kw8e by HP. The difference is Bios by Hp ver 1.29 use to be 2.29 and one Ethernet port. My spec is : 2 cpu Opteron 252; 4gig Ram (4 sticks 3200x1gb); nvidia qadro 3400; two scsi u320 hdd with Win xp and Vista 64; pci tv tuner penacle; two ide dvd Pioneer 106 and dvr pioneer 108; usb keyboard ,ps2 mouse I was trying to istall leopard 10.5.1 Toh and Jas 10.4.8 amd intel sse2 sse3 on Seagate sata 0 drive with no success everything stop before graphical apple interface. I flashed Bios then with older 1.29 ver, disabled SCSI Rom in Bios(seems like just a one option to disable SCSI) and managed to choose and format Sata drive in "Disk utility" from Apple interface but installation going up to 25% max sometimes 12% e.t.c so freeze in different time. I don't know what to do next, seems Sata is working unstable??? Thanks in advance! I don't know what to do next, seems Sata is working unstable??? Thanks in advance! hey freosan, what exactly does it say before it stops (before flashing bios and changing settings)? do you encounter any errors? when your installation freezes, try and install the rest that is missing, but do not format the drive again as leopard will just add the missing files (remember to uncheck all the additional sofware before installing). thats the way i did it: fortunately i didn`t have any major issues, just some weird ones. first of all i formatted my sata under windows as ntfs. some people say it should be fat32, but it doesnt matter at all. now i restarted the computer booting from dvd. didnt need to use any boot options. the first issue i had was that it kept on saying "still waiting for root device", so i just connected an extra p-ata drive to my 2 s-ata drives, restarted and suddenly it worked (eventhough it detects the 2 s-ata drives, it seems to like p-ata more, i dont know). then after choosing language i went on to the disk util tool and created two partitions on the formatted sata drive with mbr partition table, namely Leopard and DATA. then i installed onto the Leopard drive. unchecking all the extra software). now when using the ToH 10.5.1 version with Kernel Version 9.1.0 the installation freezes about 3 min before it finishes (which reminds me on the error you are getting as well). just restarted the computer and clicked install again (without reformatting or anything, just unchecked the extra software again and continued installing. it will just add what is missing (about 1gb of data left). after reboot it didnt do anything when trying to boot from the partition it just gave me a flashing dash on the top right hand corner of the screen or in other occations it would say no system partition. you have to make the leopard partition bootable either via booting from dvd again with -s and then fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX (X is your disk), update, f X (X is your partition), w, q, reboot. or by installing kalyways "make leopard partition bootable" program and then install leopard on top. after that the darwin loader came up, but then i had a kernel panic due to the geforce.kext and nvdaresman.kext. if that happens you have to remove them in windows with transmac or manually by booting with -s again and then use the rm -Rf command pointing to the the /System/Library/Extensions/Geforce.kext and NVDAResman.kext. from there on everything worked fine. well i could boot without any boot options like -v or -x or -legacy. no loops when creating the account. ohh yeah i found out that the loops only occur when booting with -x, which i did before i removed the kexts that prevented me from booting normally. when booting normally it doesnt loop. anyways thats how far i have got. fortunately i didnt have to change any biossettings or whatsoever. my only trouble is that i dont get my network to work and my usb doesnt seem to be installed properly. hope you get it to work. and i hope someone else might be able to help me? is it possible to change the yukon2.kext with the device id of my lan? my dev id is 0x0057 and the vendor id is 10DE so putting that together makes 0x005710DE. now where do i have to put that in? in the info.plist? when opening the info.plist of the ionetworkingfamily.kext there are all networking adapters listed, but which of the informations do i have to change? and is my lan compatible at all? please anyone help me! Freosan
Hi Fluxus. I haven't gone as far as you unfortunately. I did try to load lepard-AMD-10.5.1 with different Bios settings(Bios 1.29) but received same error. The Leopard on previous Bios v2.29 received different errors, Tiger Jas 10.4.8 sse2 sse3 didn't load graphical interface. I followed your advice and experimented with interruption Tiger Jas 10.4.8 sse2 sse3 (Bios 1.29) during installation. Jas 10.4.8 stop on but after reboot same partition is not recognized so i verified partition in "Disk Utility" few times with different results(some times ok, some times with errors) so I reckon it is a Sata drive working unstable, rebooted one more time drive was recognized and continued installation but frozen again. I noticed that is Jas 10.4.8 loading with Via 8237 Sata as Leopard with Nforce Sata. I'll try to load Leopard and sort out error during load as I think Leopard-AMD-10.5.1 is more AMD version than others and wait for Toh rev2. How is your LAN? fLuXuS
hey freosan, yes looks like it has to do with the ATA kext/ or even physically with your harddrives? but i cant say for sure. i´d suggest you try the leo 10.5.1. by ToH and see if that works. my lan is working. it recognizes the nforce 4 lan with the coorect dev id and ven id, but also another one listed as ven id 0x1106 and dev is 0x3044. i am gonna check now which that one is. however, downloading files makes leopard freeze, unless booting with the cpus=1 command. someone else said that editing the forcedeth-d.kext by replacing <key>IRQTimer</key> <false/>with<key>IRQTimer</key> <true/> makes it work. i havent tried that yet, well i have changed one info.plist in the kext, but there is another one in the plugins or contents folder, which i couldnt save after changing, because of permissions. when taking ownership of the kext it woulnt show the contents of the package anymore unless giving permissions back to system, but then again i cant save it. i am new to Mac OS myself and i havent really found out how to gain permissions to do whatever i want to the system. i know how to in windows, but Leo seems a {censored}, at least the one for Hackintosh. however, if the editing troubleshoot works it would mean that all processors can be used and a perfect working lan, which would mean that only the usb ports needs fixing... but at the moment i still have to use the cpu=1 command. one more thing which happenend yesterday. after clicking on applescript or retrieving applescript i cant remember leo hung up, only the spinning wheel stayed on the screen that could be moved around. i rebooted, but after 5 seconds same thing. i disconnected my P-ATA and the other S-ATA (windows disk) and rebooted with only the Leo drive. it worked until verifying the disk then it hang up again. i couldnt solve the issue so now i have to do a reinstall. after that i will search the forum for posts. good luck with you installation. let me know how it is going. i think since we are the only ones with a similar system it is worth keeping in touch. fLuXuS Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/86116-network-controller-firewire-usb-doesn%C2%B4t-really-work/#findComment-614198 Share on other sites
fLuXuS
ok, i know now how to use the terminal properly to overcome permissions and stuff. the change of info.plist with the irq thing setting to true doesnt work for me. still freezes. i think nforce 4 lan is just not compatble at the moment until someone writes a better forcedeth.kext. the good news is, that i got my usb working. only the damn ethernet left to finally have a perfect hackintosh. pace out Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/86116-network-controller-firewire-usb-doesn%C2%B4t-really-work/#findComment-616560 Share on other sites
Freosan
Hi Fluxus. I'm currently have no luck with installation Leopard 10.5.1 AMD - Rev. 1 so will try Tiger 10.4.10 from Tubegirl and wait for Zephyroth Leopard 10.5.1 AMD - Rev. 2. You've done good job and good luck with your Lan. I'll inform you about progress . keep in touch Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/86116-network-controller-firewire-usb-doesn%C2%B4t-really-work/#findComment-619486 Share on other sites
fLuXuS
thanks! hope you get it running too. my lan is finally working too, but when i hooked up my macbook to the hackmac it didnt work, so i guess my firewire is dead just as my usb ports where dead before reinstalling an older kext. it is listed under system profiler though, but doesnt show anything connected to it. DAMN keep me up to date with your progress. if there is anything i can do let me know. pace out. fLuXuS
Hi, how did you get your ethernet and your USB's working as I am having the same problems and its causing me a massive headache. Thanks sorry for my late reply, try installing an older usbfamily.kext (10.4.8 I think). and within contents of that kext you will find a variety of other kexts. replace the AppleUSBEHCI.kext with the PCUSBEHCI.kext that you find in this forum when searching for it. eternet works by installing a forcedeth.kext you will find a stable forcedeth.kext in the forum that works with nforce4 lan. alternatively get the new 10.5.2 by zephyroth the forcedeth.kext is included and ethernet will work like out of the box. peace out fLuXuS Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/86116-network-controller-firewire-usb-doesn%C2%B4t-really-work/#findComment-682007 Share on other sites
