I know! I know! I heard all the crying and whining. I even cried myself. I installed 10.4.11 on my 2.4GHZ Macbook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo, and saw the kernel panic. Still, it was all my fault. It's terrible. This is my story for all the Macbook Pro users out there. I installed the "evil update," and saw a kernel panic screen, and then I went online and looked the reason up for the panic. Lo and behold, all these people are having problems like mine. I was upset. Distraught.

Couple days went by, and I just got stubborn again. I said, "You know, I did something wrong. Something is not right. Apple never does this kind of stuff." So, I did research, and I discovered something that everyone should know who owns a Macbook Pro. Follow these directions to install 10.4.11 flawlessly on your Macbook Pro. I'm doing this to help others who may not know the exact details of this update and its magnitude:

1.) Download the COMBO 10.4.11 update from Apple's site, and make sure you get the POWER PC for POWER PC and the INTEL update for INTEL! Make sure you got the right one depending on your processor type.

2.) Download the thing to your desktop. Quit all applications! This is a serious update, not like the others. This is the final Tiger whammy I have found out. Take it seriously! This is surgery!

3.) Make sure no programs are running. I did say that already right? Okay, go to FORCE QUIT. Make sure, no programs are listed there but FINDER! Anything else, FORCE QUIT.

4.) Now, load up the UPDATE! Double click and .pkg unpack it to install!

5.) The installing update will begin... Let it do its thing. Do not touch anything.

6.) Finally, you should get a restart button. Click restart when it says you can.

7.) Now, this is the reason why so many people had problems like myself. When it warm boots in restart, don't touch anything. When you get the Apple logo and the spinning wheel, it will take LONGER THAN NORMAL for it to install the rest of the update! WAIT! BE PATIENT! If you are patient enough, you will see that it will REBOOT AGAIN! YEP! Like myself, I just know a lot of people thought it was hung! It's not! DO not touch anything! Let it do it again!

8.)Once it warm boots the second time, it will be the final time, and then finally... a good while, you will see the prompt to enter your password and log in. Go ahead.

CONCLUSION: 10.4.11 update reboots twice. I don't know why. But, I do know that this feels like a very major update, and I think - if anything - Apple should have warned users. The other updates I installed while running everything under the run, and no problems. This one however? Well, it's a major one! I can tell! So, now, after this, you should see a flawlessly installed TIGER! DO not use SOFTWARE UPDATE! Use the COMBO install! It's been a little while now, and I have no problems what so ever. No kernel panics or anything. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Conclusion #2: Apple probably did not respond to all the problems, because they knew what a lot of users were doing. Probably not waiting on the twice reboot and probably running all sorts of software in the background on the install of the 10.4.11. In the future, I plan on taking updates more seriously. Happy Apple life. Love ya all!
