Guest
On my Vaio laptop i only have 512MB RAM and during installation i keep getting the error message 'Because of an error, Installing Mac OS X could not be completed' I increased my RAM from 256 to 460 on VMware and the installation went further... But still crashed I have a feeling i need more RAM however apparently Mac OS X should be able to install with 512MB RAM any help on how to make it install without crashing... other options I am using a Virtual Drive (If you want to know my BIOS how do i find it out) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/85365-ram-issues/ Share on other sites
Reveeen
It will "go" with 512m of ram, but you don't have 512m of ram, do you? The 512m you have is "shared" with your video. Guest
what do you mean 'shared with my video' explain? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/85365-ram-issues/#findComment-605799 Share on other sites
Reveeen
Your laptop video has no operating ram of it's own, it shares ram with system ram, so, there is a very good chance that there is 128m "assigned" to your video, leaving 384m for your operating system.
