Ianxxx
I have two different lan cards both 8139s after inserting the relevant device id's in to the Apple kext file, the cards are seen by system preferences/ networking but report as cable unplugged. Using ifconfig I noticed this en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 ether 00:00:59:fe:00:00 media: autoselect (<unknown type>) status: inactive supported media: autoselect I'm guessing the bit in bold is the problem, as below is the output from my onboard nforce 4 lan en1: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet6 fe80::250:8dff:fed7:259%en1 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x5 inet 192.168.1.11 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 ether 00:50:8d:d7:02:59 media: autoselect (100baseTX <full-duplex>) status: active supported media: autoselect 10baseT/UTP <half-duplex> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex> 100baseTX <full-duplex> 100baseTX <half-duplex> 1000baseT Does anyone have any idea how to fix this, tried a few different kextfiles "drivers" but all give the same output. I was wondering if it is possible to specify a media type in the plist file?
marekpipe
Hi, i had the same Problem and didn´t found a reason. Mac OS said always, that no cable was plugged in. The only way i had, was to install another card (old one with Intel chip) and it worked imediatly.
Ianxxx
Question for you, the lan card you installed, does it have a firmware chip on it?
