happycar
I don't know how the hell I got it to work, but I did install JaS 10.4.8 PFF1 & PFF2. When I tried to boot I always got the restart message of death but then I inserted another DVD (xXx 10.4.11) and it skipped DVD boot and went into Mac OS X?! How? I have no idea, but it happened. I used it for a bit and when I dragged windows they would become a mess, also when I scrolled, the colors look all crappy and when Darwin boots it says something about NVIDIA 4 or something. I now can't get it to boot into Mac OS X without getting the restart message. I have no idea what I should try now. Please help. If the DVD was in the drive and you didn't press any key to install 10.4.11 it uses the kernel off the DVD I believe, but boots to the hard drive. It sounds to me like the wrong kernel is installed on the main hard drive. Try copying the mach_kernel to the root of your hard drive from the install DVD. I am pretty sure most 10.4.x use the 10.4.8 kernel from Semthex right? Rename the kernel to mach_kernel.1 if you want and type that when you press F8 - when booting from the hard drive. Unplug or remove the DVD out of the drive after attempting the above. Then we will get onto video! Baby Steps! Oh are you using onboard video?
