Strange, the installer's disk utility nor the system profiler can "see" my drive. I've read that there are major issues with S-ATA, but some keep mentioning a "compatability" option in the bios.

Obviosly Dell has locked the bios down, is the only option to flash a new bios? For the time being I'm installing Tiger on a thumbdrive. Hopeing that after this I can possibly patch something from within OS X.

What options do I have?

Phuck 10.4.9 1.4

AMD Turion 64

1 GB

80GB S-ATA HDD

ATI (Not sure but video displays fine)

I can't find the specific systems specs because my windows partition was wiped... And the system profiler can't see anything besides my processor and ram.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Brian

i had a similar issue with one of the releases, I eventually installed it on a USB drive, then edited the AppleAHCIPort.kext file by adding the following in the info.plist

If it already has this key you just need to add the BOLD insert: Reboot and see if it picks up your DVD's and other HDD's if it does you can clone it to an internal drive AFTER you've made the target bootable, OR you can put the internal target drive in the USB housing to start off with?!

Hope it helps?

SticMAN

I partitioned and installed it on my USB ipod. (using disk mode)

But after restarting, pressing f12 to enter boot selector and selecting USB IPOD all I get is the grey apple logo and then a "Please hold power button to restart" error.

Oh well.
