skinneh
Hi guys, I've searched the forums but no sign of Dell Precisions anywhere so before I begin hacking away at this box for days on end I thought I'd ask all you clever people if it's even worth it. My system specs are: Dell Precision 390 workstation: intel 975x express chipset P4 3ghz 2Gig Ram Graphics - NVIDEA Quadro FX550 128mb Network Adapter - Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller If anyone can give me guidance that'd be great. Thanks in advance.

bradshawjgc
Hi, I have a similar question so I didn't want to post in a new thread. I was thinking of getting a DELL Precision T3400 - which comes as Base: Intel® Core™2 Quad 375W,Q6600 (2.40GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 2x4MB L2 Cache, Quad Core) Memory: 4GB (2 x 2.0GB DIMM) 800MHZ DDR2 ECC SDRAM Memory Video Card: 256MB nVidia NVS 290, Dual Monitor DVI or VGA Graphics Card (ULGA8) I want to replace the Graphics Card with a PNY Geforce 8800 GT (PCIe 512) This Precision model isn't mentioned in the HCL and the PNY card isn't but several other Geforce 8800 GT cards are and work. I kinda assumed it would work because some of the Mac Pros use this card, or rather use Nvidias 8800 GT (MAC) which just has different firmware. Or am i being a total Newb? I dont have the PC yet, cos i want to upgrade but don't want to buy something that i cant use with os x. Thanks for any advice! J
