I've been dealing with this all night and searching the forums/google all night and haven't found an answer. I'm running a P4 2.8GHz on an Intel D865PERL mobo. When I rebot my PC it goes to the screen with the apple and lading indicator and after about 5 seconds it goes to a blank gray screen. Sometimes it will go to a screen that is dark gray on one half and light gray on the other half. Can anyone help me out to get this baby running?

cpu and mobo and chipset of mobo, exact sound card specs, whether its realtek or whatever the network card and all that sorta stuff is pretty important. SO far I've got

Ā

P4 2.8ghz

D865 mobo

built in sound

1gb ram

ati 9800

250gb hdd ide, i presume pata

I'd try to press F8 before darwin bootloader and boot with "-v" flag to see what happens, most likely a kernel panic. Then I'd boot with "-x -v cpus=1" and see if that will get you into the system.

Thanks for the help so far. I just got home but have more work to do before I can get back on the PC and get all the detailed specs for you bbut I did want to say that I tried "-x -v cpus=1" real quick and it did load up. I have no sound and it will only let me pick a 1024x728 resolution.Ok, the mobo is a D865PERL and it has a Intel 865PE Chipset. I was wrong about the memory type (was thinking of my other box), this one has Dual Channel DDR 400 MHz (PC3200), 333 MHz (PC2700), and 266 MHz (PC2100) and is loaded up with 1GB.The audio is SoundMAX4* XL featuring Flexible 6 Channel Audio with Jack SensingNetwork is IntelĀ® Pro/100 (which seems to work fine)

Ok...So I reinstalled and this time I didn't select any video or audio drivers and it boots up great! But, obviously still no sound and still no video other than 1024 x 768. Looking at my board, it looks like I may have the higher model of the D865PERL that has AC97 Audio because it has the toslink output on it. I'll try installing that driver and then I guess I'll have to find one that works for my ATI 9800 Pro card.

AC97 drivers didn't help...it shows info for sound now, but I get nothing. I got my video to go to 1280 x 1024 and it look nice, but I get little "see through" blocks at times so I'm sure I need to figure out this video driver as well. Does anyone else have any other ideas?
