herg
Ok, this is probably going to be a difficult question to answer since it is very specific. I have 8f1111 running on a PC, and I have configured a couple of SMB shares, both using SharePoints and by manually editing the smb.conf file. The client is a modified Xbox running XBMC. I have used the Xbox for a couple years with a WinXP SMB server. The first thing I ran into was that I couldn't get a public share set up correctly on OSX. I tried a bunch of stuff, but eventually just decided to configure XBMC to use a user/pass. I'll just have to set up the WinXP shares to match. Now, the real problem. I can see the share and all the files on the OSX server, but when I browser to an album folder, it starts pulling album art, and it takes a couple minutes for the ~10 files in there. With the XP server, it took about 2 seconds. If I'm patient enough for the album art to load (which shows up correctly), I try to play a song, and the Xbox either locks up or just hangs for a LONG time. I don't really know which. The really weird thing is that I can play songs off the OSX server from a WinXP PC on the same network. Oh yeah, it also worked fine with OSX 10.4.1, but not since the upgrade. herg
I'm not sure what did it, but it's working now. I started over with the default smb.conf file, shut down everything on my network, and when I brought everything back up, it stated working.
