I'm using a separate PATA hard drive to install Leopard Kalyway 10.5.1, where I was using Tiger 10.4.11 before without problems.

The installation proccess from the DVD starts perfectly, i choose custom installation and using the diskutility to format the whole hd using mbr option it goes well. Vanilla kernel and acpi selected and bootloader mbr as well. Finally SSE2 support and Nvinject drivers for my gfx card. About 15 minutes later, when the installation procedure finishes the machine reboot and after it loads the darwind bootloader the screen goes to black with the blinking cursor at the top....

any help?

Not sure if this will help but I've read it on another thread and for some reason it's made a difference in the past.

Try leaving your installation DVD in the drive and booting to OS X like that. Apparently it's made a difference for some people. If by some miracle that allows you to boot into OS X. Then do this:

"not sure if this is gonna help you, i have a dual boot install with kalyway 10.5.1 and xp, i ran into the same problems your having. it wouls hang on boot without dvd but would boot fine with it.

i booted with the kalyway dvd, then opened the dvd, opened the system folder, opened installation folder, opened packages folder. in there you'll find BOOT_EFI_MBR and BOOT_EFI_GUID. i ran BOOT_EFI_MBR and haven't had to boot from dvd since, darwin bootloader recognises both OS partitions on my hard drive and presents me with a menu to choose if i wana boot os leopard or windows xp. maye it might work for you, maybe not.
