ergosteur
hello all, I have a friend whose 17" core duo Macbook pro has gone a bit crazy. The problem is basically that the battery status indicator is "stuck". when discharging, the indicator drops from 100% gradually down to 67%, but then gets stuck there. as a result, the computer will eventually just shut off without warning when the battery runs dry. She is running Leopard, and has updated to the latest firmware. Windows XP in boot camp exhibits the same issues. any ideas?
macprodan
She 100% needs to go to an apple store or email apple to get the battery replaced, it`s had it for sure. happened to me and a cousin on a battery.. Should not happen on newer machines and batteries but you never know. Damn {censored}y batch of sony batteries.
ergosteur
yep that did it. unfortunately she didn't have applecare and had to pay full price for the battery.
macprodan
She got may have got screwed. The battery warranty is 2 years as far as i can remember. (edit: Oh, ok I just realized it is a core duo and not core 2 duo.) hence its older and prob just out of the 2 year range.
