skater Posted February 3, 2006 Share Posted February 3, 2006 Installation on laptop and desktop . Desktop : no sound but valid internet acces Laptop : nice sound , but no internet access . I booted XP and checked in device manager : Laptop built in Ethernet card is : Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI fast ethernet NIC Once in OSX : System Profiler / network / Built in Ethernet shows : Type : ethernet Hardware : ethernet BSD device name : en0 System Preferences / Network / Location : automatic Show : network status Nothing appears below . I searched in the forum , tried once to play whi kext files , and crashed the system . Help appreciated . I downloaded the driver for 8139 family on the Realtek site and it unpacked and seemed to install . But, no progress at all . As I cloned the OSX partition from one computer to another I wonder if that could maybe be the problem, as I could have imported the settings of the other computer to the laptop .
