webterractive
I have recently bought an open-box DELL Inspiron 640m. The specs are: Intel Core2Duo T2XXX @ 1.73Ghz 2GB DDR2 533mhz 1+1 80GB HDD DVD+/-RW 945GM OB Video Sigmatel Audio 1440x900 14.1" Glossy Display When I boot up the Leopard DVD it starts up and install fines. One of the things that I noticed is that the video is actually at its native resolution of 1440x900 really weired since my desktop which is 1280x1024 boots up the installation at 1024x768. But after all that the system doesn't seem to want to boot. The boot process just shows up the blinker at the top left of the screen and it just stays there. I have tried using the DVD but that doesn't help either. Its like the bootloader isn't there because it just keeps rebooting. I can faintly see the Apple logo before it reboots. Boot install: diskutil unmount diskXsX fdisk -e /dev/rdiskXsX update f 1 w q dd if=/xxx/boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsX bs=512 count=1 ./startupfiletool -v /dev/rdiskXsX boot (from pc_efi) bless -device /dev/rdiskXsX -setBoot -verbose diskutil mount diskXsX bless -mount /Volume/Leopard/ -setBoot -verbose I did this on my desktop before the system installation and it goes off without a hitch. I am running a fully updated and working 10.5.1 system. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83851-640m/ Share on other sites

PainToad
For first poster are you trying to do a direct copy of ur PC to Lappy with DD? That won't work unless you have the exact same hardware on both (unlikely). You probably can get screen up and running by installing the GMA950 Extention in single user mode but you will run into a heap of other issues I'm guessing...my advice use Kalyways installer, works fine. Second poster, boot with the flag "-v" (without quotes) and tell us what it says...Of the top of my head you didn't select GMA950 Extensions when you installed the DVD...
