jarvis
Hello there, I was wondering if anyone has any idea whether it would be possible to use my Vodafone Mobile Connect Card with my OSx86 Laptop? Osx detects the card but doesn't load any driver. I've tried using the vodafone program, it runs but says it cant detect a card. Any ideas? Thanks I'm using 10.4.3 on Fujitsu S7010D laptop. PCMCIA works (I can tell because I use the RT2500 card and this works) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8382-option-globetrotter-fusion-umts-vodafone-m-c-c/ Share on other sites

zarac
try this download (official vodafone - supports all option globetrotter devices): http://www.business.vodafone.com/site/bus/...atest/p_mac.jsp i have a globetrotter icon (usb model). this installer recognised it correctly, but couldn't connect - gives "modem unexpectedly quit" error on my amd 10.4.8 with 8.8.1 kernel (tried both jas and tubgirl, but no go) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8382-option-globetrotter-fusion-umts-vodafone-m-c-c/#findComment-334651 Share on other sites

alh
According to http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=77464: No PC cards work with the Intel MacBooks or MacBooks Pro, as none of them have PC card slots. I have an Option Globetrotter 3G (Colt) card. It would be helpful if someone knows direct link to Option drivers and not the Vodafone ones, since I can't access them on the Option site as my card is Vodafone branded. Edit: The GlobetrotterConnect.zip file seems to be identical for all cards. So I installed it, but my card is still not recognized. Edit 2: I installed the Globetrotter Connect program. Then I changed /System/Library/Extensions/OptionQC.kext/Contents/Info.plist so that idProduct key under "Option Globetrotter 3G" key had value 20480 (0x5000) instead of 24832 (0x6100) as that is the device id reported in windows. Globetrotter connect now still wouldn't detect the card. After that I went to Network settings in System Preferences. In Network Port Configuration I could now select GT 3G Modem. I selected it and then went on to configure it. I entered my APN in the thelephone number field, my user name and password, and on the modem tab I chose "Option GlobeTrotter 3G" as the modem script. I unchecked "Wait for the dialtone" and left everything else like it was. Then I tried to connect with Internet Connect. The good news is, that I actually connected successfully as I'm writing this. The bad news is that the connection is very unreliable. It lasts between 30 seconds and 2 minutes and then stalls. It stays connected, but there is no receiving activity (there is sending). Sometimes it can't even connect. I'm glad I finally made some progress on this, but I hate being left so close, but not yet there. alh
I tried something else now and came up with interesting results. Immediately after I connected now I started downloading a large file (~100 MB) from the internet. The file downloads fine, and connection is stable. Right now it's longer than ten minutes, and I bet it will break after download stops. So the problem is that connection doesn't stay alive if there is no traffic. Could this be driver related or something else? I really want to get this fixed when I'm so close Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/8382-option-globetrotter-fusion-umts-vodafone-m-c-c/#findComment-612191 Share on other sites
