"About this Mac" Crashes on AMD chip in Leopard... HELP!

Hello all. This is actually my first post on insanelymac.com. I have already gotten a ton of information from both the site, the irc channel. However I have sort of hit a wall. First off let me detail my system and current progress.

 

AMD 4200x2 SSE3

2GB Ram

nForce 4 chipset (yes I have network working)

nVidia 7800GT (this is not installed yet, more to follow about this)

 

Install progress:

I am booted into Leopard with valid working internet. I had to disable my video card driver to enter the OS initially. Now when I goto about this Mac to try and open up the hardware details, the screen freezes. It then goes to what looks like a black terminal window with 1 white box and then goes right back to my desktop.

 

I have tried just about all the fixes I can find from the old login style file that was posted in the Tiger forum to the two files that were on Zephy's wiki. Neither worked. I checked my Bios and there isn't a setting for MAXCPU or anything along those lines so I don't think it can be that. So rather than googling more and just trying some random post, I'd like to ask you guys for some help. My system is pretty close to being done, it just needs to get over this one hurdle.
