Hi,

i wanted to know if my laptop was good enough to run OS X on it, either Tiger or Leopard. Could you help me out, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are my specs, as far as i know:

Toshiba Satellite M40X-233 (2 yo)

Intel 1.73 GHz Pentium M processor

512 Mb ram

Intel 128 Mb Express Chipset Family graphic card

do you need to know anything else? I plan to install OS X on a separate external HD through USB.

thanks in advance for the help.

couldnt find urs but this is close

for 10.4.8

 Satellite M30X-165

-JAS OS X 10.4.8 SSE2/SSE3.v1p.diskutil. patch
-Intel Centrino 1.6 GHz (Pentium M 725)
-Intel 855GE Chipset
-FSB 400
-80 GB HD
-1 GB DDR
-WXGA
-ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 128 MB
-1 x IEEE 1394
-3x USB
-WLAN Intel Pro 2200G

* The only Patch which allowed me to change resolution is this one http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=43829&hl=Ati+Mobility+9600. Thank you Largo!! Now runs with AGP+1280x800 + QE/CI
* WLAN is not working
* Sound working right "out of the box"
* PCMCIA Cards not tested yet
* Internal cardreader not tested yet
* Just updated to 10.4.9. No problems at all.

also found this for 10.4.6

Toshiba Satellite M40X-141

Celeron M370 1.5Ghz (SSE2, XD), 512MB, Intel 915 chipset, Intel GMA900 graphics

Everything works perfectly out of the box except display: sound, network, wifi... You HAVE TO boot with a VGA monitor connected, or it won't work. I'm NOT ANYMORE working on that (i managed to have it work perfectly under 10.4.3, but i didn't manage to do it with 10.4.5 or later). Installed hacked battery monitor and touchpad driver. CPU seems to run at full speed all the time, fans are running at half or full speed all the time, annoying.

you can try leopard.. chances are u may need to use tiger 10.4.8
