DoctorDyna
I've been fighting with this problem for a while, and I don't know what to make of it anymore. No matter what I do, my hard drive keeps falling asleep at various places during the install, and it won't wake up no matter how long I leave it alone. Things I've tried already: 1.) Changing the ACPI settings in the bios to various combinations. (no effect, except ACPI=Disabled causes panic.) 2.) Enable / Disable SMART. (no effect besides disk util reporting it enabled / disabled) 3.) Tried more than one different hard drive (IDE. no effect, any drive I try sleeps.) 4.) Tried Kalyway AND iATKOS. My hack consists of: Asus P5ND2 SLi motherboard. 3.0 GHz P4 (Prescott) 2 GB DDR2 533 Ram 60 GB IDE maxtor hard drive (the one I'm currently trying to use.) ATI Radeon x1600 Pro 512. If anyone knows or has had this happen, I'm begging..Please let me know what causes it so I can fix it, or what file I have to edit to make it quit. I don't care enough about 0.0002 cents / week to keep a hard drive running, so I don't want my machine shutting them off to save power anyway. Thanks! DoctorDyna
LOL, yeah actually I started doing that after the first time it did it, I made it a point to move the mouse every 15 or 20 seconds, and it still did it. mtotho
well isnt it obvious, to stop it from sleeping, give it a redbull or something. Unfortunatly, I think it would sleep forever if I did that.
