Some motherboards have major SATA problems and to fix you either need to change settings in the BIOS to AHCI or IDE (RAID seldom works) or enable HPET 64-bit or plug into a different chipset board. Mine has a JMicron controller with lots of rouble with anything but Kalyway. Try that, post back.
