Hello Folks!

I've read many informative posts on working through video troubles with my ATI x1650,

AGP 512Mb card and my Kalyway 10.5.1 install.

Petie74 and cyclonefr both graciously provided KEXT files to try, but nothing seems to work.

Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the Mac to know where to start modifying myself.

Where my video currently stands is if I install the default drivers in Kalyway, without selecting any

video, my system successfully boots with 1024 x 768 resolution only, video artifacts, and full

hardware QE/CI support.

If I use the KEXT from cyclonefr, I am able to increase my resolution, have no video artifacts,

but the QE/CI support goes away. Interesting here with these KEXT files, my plug and play

monitor, by LG, is listed by model number in the display setting window. I can go up to my

monitor's maximum of 1280 x 1024. However, going back to the original KEXT files from the

Kalyway install, the LG monitor is not recognized, other than I guess a generic monitor. Hence

the only offering for resolution is 1024 x 768.

Now, my question is, have I been going about this the wrong way? I've been trying to get the

right KEXT for my video card. Should I instead be trying to get something for my monitor?

I know in Windows, one can set up the wrong monitor on purpose and get improper screen

resolutions. Is this what might be going on here? I read where people are struggling to get

QE/CI support. I've got that with the default KEXTs. Now how do I get the higher resolutions

without losing QE/CI?

Maybe I could try a different release of Leopard. Trying different install options, I have gotten

iATKOS r2 to boot but only in an error state which gives me a system message in several languages

that my computer needs to be restarted. I've only gone back to Kalyway at the point since iATKOS

won't restart properly at all.

Thanks all for your input!
